How to start your Covenant Time

You should first and foremost pick a time, an hour which will be convenient for you when you will be alone with God without any form of distractions, it should be a time when you will not be sleeping or disturbed by anybody. It may be morning, night, or midnight depending on your person, and your kind of job. Some people chose their time during the day, I don’t advise this because some inevitable issues may come up and you begin missing your time.

You will be exclusively with Him alone at that covenant table; this is the secret place which David talks about in Psalm 91:1. It is personal and quiet, not a family devotion or joint prayer time- you alone with God in a closed door, by the help of the Holy Spirit.

The things you need at the table

1. Your Bible and Discipleship Book.

2. Notepad or Jotter and Pen.

You are going to study the Word of God by reading and listening to God because at this time, He may be speaking to you through His Audible Voice, Visions, the Bible or inner witness; endeavour to write down the messages He gives you so that you don’t forget them. Several times, I have experienced and heard God answering numerous questions which has settled many issues in our lives.
We call it eating at the Lord’s Table because God at this time will be feeding you. All you have to do is just sit down quietly in His Presence, no conversation with anyone or answering phone calls. You will at this time start noticing that the Bible will begin to make more meaning to you; it would come alive in you.

Why Convenant time?

  1. This is to keep the relationship pure.
  2. To make it a commitment through its consistency.
  3. Because it refreshes and renews our relationship with Him daily.
  4. Due to our inadequacies and distractions, we need a constant daily cleansing and purging; there is none that doeth good, no not one, and all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God, Romans 3:23. That is why the only righteousness we can trust and hold onto is our Lord’s righteousness.
  5. We come under His covering daily as we come to this table. We come to be renewed and refreshed everyday so that we don’t wander away from His Presence, which is dangerous (Psalm 9: 1).
  6. Covenant keeping reminds us that Jesus is coming soon and we must wait. It is a quick reminder that we are waiting for the second coming of Jesus, like the wise virgins that filled their lamps and kept watch. So we must wait and watch.

More on Convenant Time

Covenant hour or time is a time you have chosen to have personal fellowship with your maker (the same time everyday). It ends when HE is through with you or when your spirit is full. It is not “lonely moment” but “alone with God”. It is not prayer time but a time in God’s presence to commune with Him, to learn from Him and to know Him personally. God is strategizing with this program for future intrigues of Anti-Christ, whose spirit is already in the church. Also through this discipleship program, the Lord wants our soul to be genuinely converted so that we make it to the kingdom. You will observe through this program that the pressing problems distracting our attention are solved radically without prayer struggles. Concerning the wandering mind during this time, the Lord speaks expressly on what to do; “Learn to close some chapters in your mind because it can pull you down and will not allow ME to flow with you. You are the one to control your mind or thoughts. You can replace the negatives with MY words or with the things that I have done for you. You all have excess luggage in your minds. It is better you drop it so that I can flow.” Allow your mind to access what is of God all the time and not junk. It will help you to grow and mature spiritually. Why is God talking about the mind? It is where the treasure is (good decisions takes place here and wickedness also). Be careful and examine yourself, make the decision to drop the weak mind and replace it with God.
